Have you ever wondered how male and female strip clubs really differ? If you’ve only ever seen one side of the industry, the answer might surprise you. We asked our Magic Men and Magic Ladies what they thought the key differences were:
Ever watched a troupe of baby-oiled hunks shake it to Sex Bomb? Or a sexy female stripper work the pole and offer lap dances? We love gorgeous half-naked men, but let’s face it, it’s more funny than sexy, right? Here are the REAL differences between male and female strippers, and why your partner really shouldn’t be worried about the hens night.
Whether you’re at a bachelorette party, a friend’s birthday or just feeling curious, there’s always a time and a place. And having seen both male and female strippers in action, the dynamic between the two is completely different.
When you watch women strip and work the floor, there’s something genuinely mesmerising about it. But when it comes to male strippers? Most of us are laughing so hard we’re crying. They can’t seriously think we’re turned on by it, can they?
So if your partner ever tries to argue that hiring a male stripper is just as bad as him going to a strip club, it’s time he reconsidered. They’re simply not in the same league.
What Do Men Want at a Female Strip Club?
Generally speaking, men at bachelor parties or female strip clubs are there to see the girls’ bodies, the dirtier the better. They’re not there for dancing skills or personality, and there’s no point pretending otherwise.
The female stripping industry sits much closer to adult entertainment than to performance. The kind of shows you see at bucks nights, dominatrix shows, XXX shows, girl-on-girl shows, would be classified as explicit content if streamed online. Guys are at these events for one reason, and it’s not the choreography.
What Do Women Want from a Male Strip Club?
From experience at hens nights and male revue shows, women are not overly enthusiastic about a male stripper grinding on them or getting in their faces. What women actually want is to laugh and have fun with their friends. It really is that simple.
The male stripping industry is built around cheeky entertainment, not sex. Most women want light-hearted, funny entertainment they can enjoy together. Yes, there’s sexual dancing involved, but it’s VERY different from what female strippers do, and very different from what men want when they hire one.
Most female stripping work happens through private lap dances in clubs. In the male stripping industry, that kind of one-on-one interaction almost never happens outside of the USA. Male “lap dances” happen on stage, in front of a full crowd.
The Show
What Is the Difference in Income?
Female strippers make significantly more money than male strippers, generally speaking. This is from experience in the industry across Australia and England, though it’s likely a little different in the USA.
A big part of this comes down to how the work is structured. Female strippers are mostly in clubs, actively working and earning throughout the night. Male strippers are typically doing a stage show on the weekend, or strip-a-grams at private homes on a Saturday night.
Breaking It Down
Female strippers spend a lot of time doing private lap dances in clubs, earning anywhere from $50-$100 per dance, working as many hours as they choose. Strip clubs are usually open most days of the week, allowing women to make serious money alongside other work. In reality, a female stripper working consistently can clear $2,000 a week with ease. Girls doing private hotel shows for bachelor parties can also earn well above what male strippers get, largely because of the X-rated nature of those shows.
Male strippers don’t have dedicated clubs to work in regularly. Outside of a handful of venues in the USA, male strip clubs open most nights are rare, and even in those, competition is fierce and earnings are lower than doing private bookings. Male strippers also get paid less per private booking, and the industry is full of guys undercutting each other’s rates. Most do either stage shows or strip-a-grams, both of which pay far less than what female strippers earn.
Male revue shows outside of Vegas typically run weekends only, at best a Friday and Saturday, making it a solid side job rather than a full-time income. A show might pay around $200 AUD for the whole night. Strip-a-grams allow more bookings, but the per-booking rate is still well below what female strippers earn, again because of the nature of what those shows involve.
It’s also worth noting: when women hire a male stripper, the whole vibe is different. It’s funny, it’s light-hearted, it’s entertainment. You might spend 15 minutes hooting and laughing and then everyone moves on with the night. It’s not meant to be titillating, and honestly, for most women it isn’t. It’s jokey. A proper gentlemen’s club is a different world entirely. The comparison really isn’t apples to apples.

Massive props to the guys for spending half their lives at the gym and tracking every calorie. Trust us, we do appreciate the results. Watching a male stripper pour hot wax down some seriously impressive abs? Tasty. But when they add the little bow tie and a matching thong, the sex appeal tends to fade fairly quickly.
For guys, seeing women in the buff is generally a very different experience. For women watching male strippers, it’s more of a laugh. That’s not an insult, it’s just the reality of the dynamic, and it’s a big part of why male strip shows feel more like a party than anything else.

The Difference in the Industry
The female strip club environment can be perfectly fine. In Australia, some venues are run quite well. But it can also be an unhealthy and damaging place to work. There are well-documented issues around drugs, crime and gambling in many Las Vegas and London-based clubs, and bad operators exist in every city. It’s far too common to see people get caught up in those cycles. Another lesser-known fact: a significant number of female strippers doing private bachelor party shows use those events as a cover to deal party drugs to the men in attendance.
In the male stripping industry, those kinds of issues are far less common. Most male strippers are health-focused, gym-dedicated, and hold day jobs in construction, offices or similar. Worst-case comparison? Steroid use among male strippers versus harder drug issues in some parts of the female industry. The culture gap between the two is real.
Do Female Strippers Have Better Sets Than Male Strippers?
Male strippers dress up, use props and bring real physical energy, picking women up, carrying them around, flipping them. Female strippers tend to work smarter: blindfold you, sit on your lap and seduce with precision, and somehow it works even more effectively without going through half the physical effort.
Pay-wise, male strippers generally earn around $25 less than female strippers per private party booking. In Chicago, for example, male strippers earn around $75 while female strippers earn around $100, though female strippers often offset some of that with driver and security costs. Tips are where the gap really shows: male strippers rarely take home more than $50 in tips per show, while female strippers can earn anywhere from $100 to $1,000 depending on the event. This means male strippers need to do more shows to match the income, while female strippers tend to focus on fewer, higher-value bookings.
The third difference often comes down to motivation. Male strippers genuinely tend to enjoy the attention and thrive on the crowd energy. That’s not to say female strippers dislike their jobs. Many choose the work specifically for the earning potential. But the reasons for being there, and the environment around it, are quite different.

Female Strippers Aren’t Perfect and We Love It
There’s something genuinely beautiful about a woman so comfortable in her own skin. It’s praiseworthy, it’s hot, and it’s downright empowering to watch.
Male Strippers Are a Little Cheesy
Male strippers make us cringe, in the best possible way. We hoot, scream and laugh, but not because we want them. It’s the shock factor: the cowboy boots, the hot pants, the obsession with their own arms. It’s a completely different atmosphere. Women at these shows are there to have a great time together, which is worlds apart from men sitting front row at a gentlemen’s club.
Female Strippers Know How to Work It
Any kind of skilled dancing is impressive, but female strippers move in ways that are genuinely in a different league. There’s a reason they’re so mesmerising, it’s a different discipline entirely.
Male Strippers and the Full-Body Wax
The idea sounds edgy, but in real life, when a man has less body hair than you, it can be a bit of a conversation starter. Most women will tell you they’d happily take chest hair and a beard over a full wax any day.
Female Strippers Know How to Work the Pole
Watching a skilled pole performer is hypnotic. Whether you’re turned on or not, the athleticism and precision of a quality female striptease is hard to look away from. It’s a completely different skill set from what male strippers bring to the stage.
Male Strippers Can Be a Bit Hands-On
Women at male strip shows can have a bit of fun with the performers, and everyone’s on board with that. But when the roles reverse, the line is clearer. Keep it fun and consensual, guys. Crowd interaction should feel like part of the entertainment, not the other way around.
